The Carsey Institute is very pleased to announce the SMDP-Tanzania, which will be held in Stonetown, Zanzibar, at the Zanzibar Ocean View Resort.
We will use the island environment as our classroom, where students will see sustainable development in action. This is an intensive and highly relevant training program for senior management professionals from microfinance institutions, environmental NGOS, enterprise development organizations, government ministries, private donor organizations, religious and faith-based development organizations, and academic institutions.
Courses Offered
Track One: Community and Environment (week one)
-- Introduction to Community Economic Development (Monday and Tuesday)
-- Developing Successful Partnerships for Community and Environmental Protection (Wednesday-Friday, includes a tour of the Jozani Chwaka Bay National Park).
-- Modern Energy Business Opportunities for the Base of the Pyramid (Wednesday-Friday, includes tour of local sustainable energy projects)
Track Two: Pro-Poor Enterprise Development (two weeks)
-- PPED Foundations (two-and-a-half days)
-- Designing and Planning ED Programs (three-and-a-half days)
-- Implementation Approaches (four days, includes Zanzibar agricultural value chain field visit)
Track Three: Youth-Inclusive Financial Services (two weeks)
-- Implementing Sound Practices in Youth-Inclusive Financial Services (two days)
-- Market Research with Young Clients (three days)
-- Adapting and Developing Financial Services for Young Clients (three days)
-- Partnering for Improved Service Delivery with Young Clients (two days)
Track Four: Community Managed Microfinance - English and French (week two)
-- Community-Managed Microfinance— English (six days)
