MicroSave India is funded by a variety of local and international donors, and seeks to create a practice-based centre of excellence designed to research, test and rollout market-led, innovative products/delivery systems and to develop capacity within Indian financial institutions serving the low-income sector.
The recognition of the quality of MicroSave's services (technical assistance, training and research) means that they are in are in high demand and the project is still growing very rapidly. As a result there are many vacancies for ambitious, committed professionals keen to learn and grow with the programme and to be a part of efforts to play an important role in transforming Indian microfinance.
MicroSave is looking for a long-term consultant to assist with its on-going Market-led Financial Services programme (largely focused on research to support product development and expand financial inclusion/ savings mobilisation, particularly around e-/m-banking solutions) and develop staff into leadership positions. The posting would be for two years, with the potential for extension of two more years.

Sustainable Microenterprise and Development Training in Tanzania
Sustainable Microenterprise and Development
Program (SMDP)-Tanzania
October 11–October 23, 2010, Zanzibar, Tanzania

The Carsey Institute is very pleased to announce the SMDP-Tanzania, which will be held in Stonetown, Zanzibar, at the Zanzibar Ocean View Resort.
We will use the island environment as our classroom, where students will see sustainable development in action. This is an intensive and highly relevant training program for senior management professionals from microfinance institutions, environmental NGOS, enterprise development organizations, government ministries, private donor organizations, religious and faith-based development organizations, and academic institutions.
Courses Offered
Track One: Community and Environment (week one)
-- Introduction to Community Economic Development (Monday and Tuesday)
-- Developing Successful Partnerships for Community and Environmental Protection (Wednesday-Friday, includes a tour of the Jozani Chwaka Bay National Park).
-- Modern Energy Business Opportunities for the Base of the Pyramid (Wednesday-Friday, includes tour of local sustainable energy projects)
Track Two: Pro-Poor Enterprise Development (two weeks)
-- PPED Foundations (two-and-a-half days)
-- Designing and Planning ED Programs (three-and-a-half days)
-- Implementation Approaches (four days, includes Zanzibar agricultural value chain field visit)
Track Three: Youth-Inclusive Financial Services (two weeks)

Practitioners at work
Jerry Nwigwe is one of the practitioners of ICED. He is a Microenterprise and business development specialist and has assisted rural and urban communities in Africa to developed a more inclusive and sustainable approach to solving their own social and economic problems. ICED practitioners are just facilitators and communities own every steps and processes. When you give communities access and participation in CED,it would guarantee a more practicable and sustainable approach to solving their problems. Jerry's CED practice has provided him with an opportunity to work with women cooperatives and youth groups focusing on market linkages, business development and value chain. His work involves innovative project and curriculum designs on CED practices, training and business plan development and lastly inclusive Microfinance program for the marginalized and vulnerable groups. New Practitioners inducted into ICED Family
New graduates of ICED were on Friday 2,2010 inducted into the famous hall of fame for CED practices with international specialization. The renowned Human Rights Lawyer and UN Head of Anti- Discrimination Section in Geneva- Chris Mburu delivered a powerful commencement speech and send forth the new practitioners to the world of CED practice. He challenged everyone in CED practice to be innovative, be passionate and provide leadership as well as respecting the core values of CED- Participation, Equity and sustainability. Chris Mburu is also the founder of Hilde Education Fund in Kenya which support the education of talented children unable to continue with school due to poverty. He hopes that educated people, especially from the developing countries, will be inspired to give back to their communities and uplift those left behind, and this way ensure sustainable development and durable peace. The Chair of CED program, Prof. Catherine Rielly gave the valedictory speech and concludes with a high note of remark for the new practitioners. David Kitusa from KIVA-Kenya gave the vote of thanks on behalf of ICED Class 2010.
